Why is the user interface important in a program?
Q. Why is the user interface important in a program? Do you think it's beneficial to have similar user interfaces in all of the MS Office programs? Why/Why-not?

A. if you mean the whole file, edit, etc. gui, i think its very important to keep things the same. like i know that if i press cntrl-c in any ms program, it will copy the selected stuff to the clipboard and cntrl-z will undo and cntrl-s will save my work. so i dont have to learn and memorize new shortcuts or where the menu items are if i start using a new program. this makes it very easy to use new software. imagine if you had to look for a button on the screen everytime yot want to save or close the window. it would slow you down alot. especially if you had to switch between 20 different programs. youd have to memorize the menus for all those programs. once you learn the ms menu system, you never have to think when you want to open a new doc… [cont.]

How do I sign in as a different user on my computer and how do I disable safe mode startup?
Q. How do I log off and sign in as a different user on my computer? i have windows xp and there is an administrator user setting and then a different user. How do I log into that? Or how do I try to switch users without messing anything up? Anyone know how start up the computer without it being on safe mode?

A. To log off and back on as a different user, select "Log Off" from the Start menu. It will log off the current account, and offer you a page with the other available accounts to log back in. To have the option for selecting different accounts on boot up, go into the Control Panel and click the "Change how users log on". Turn on the Welcome Screen. Normally a computer will not go into Safe Mode on boot up unless you either select Safe Mode from the F8 menu, or you have an error during the boot up that is forcing the computer into Safe Mode. Try turning on the computer, and repeatedly press the F8 key until you get a screen with the Safe Mode option. From that screen select to boot up normally. How do you have a user play a computer when writing Java?
Q. I have to write a program class Pig that utilizes PairofDice class. I know how to incorporate all that stuff. But as the problem specifies, I need to have the user play a computer. How do I get the computer to play?

A. I think you mean interact w/ computer to play the game. Your best bet is to create a simple java applet to do this or use JUDO.
