FrenchNounmarketing From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Marketing is an integrated communications-based process through which individuals and communities are informed or persuaded that existing and newly-identified needs and wants may be satisfied by the products and services of others. Marketing is used to create the customer, to keep the customer and to satisfy the customer. With the customer as the focus of its activities, it can be concluded that Marketing is one of the premier components of Business Management - the other being Operations(or Production). Other services and management activities such as Human Resources, Accounting, Law and Legal aspects can be "bought in" or "contracted out". Marketing is defined by the American Marketing Association as the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large. The term developed from the original meaning which referred literally to going to a market to buy or sell goods or services. The Chartered Institute of Marketing defines marketing as "The management process responsible for identifying, anticipating and satisfying customer requirements profitably." Marketing practice tended to be seen as a creative industry in the past, which included advertising, distribution and selling. However, because the academic study of marketing makes extensive use of social sciences, psychology, sociology, mathematics, economics, anthropology and neuroscience, the profession is now widely recognized as a science, allowing numerous universities to offer Master-of-Science (MSc) programmes. The overall process starts with marketing research and goes through market segmentation, business planning and execution, ending with pre and post-sales promotional activities. It is also related to many of the creative arts. The marketing literature is also adept at re-inventing itself and its vocabulary according to the times and the culture. Seen from a systems point of view, sales process engineering views marketing as a set of processes that are interconnected and interdependent with other functions, whose methods can be improved using a variety of relatively new approaches. Q. i just started college and i was wondering what are the marketing courses that i should take? Asked by me2adiha - Mon Aug 3 16:30:21 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Honestly, just take what you need to get your degree. Your schooling is going to help you get a job, if that's what you want. You are definitely going to learn from your classes, but from my experience you will learn far more from your own experiences. What I'm saying is this: Get your degree to help you get a job, but use the internet and get all the experience you can for you real "education". People coming straight out of school tend to be real green :) That's assuming you want a job, of course. I learned marketing and I began making my living from home using the internet. No more jobs, bosses, etc. for me. The freedom is wonderful, and the money is just as sweet! Answered by unknown - Tue Aug 4 04:02:24 2009 What marketing strategy can I use to sell a higher quality but more expensive product? Q. I need to set up a marketing strategy to sell a very durable and reliable desk drawer slide for $8.75 when there is a competitor selling a cheaper less reliable version for only $1.75-- obviously my product is better, but how do I stress that to customers and get them to pay this high price? Asked by blondie - Sun Oct 4 17:13:20 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. To market in terms of quality rather than price, and in order to differentiate accordingly, you need to follow the standard format of the 4 P's marketing plan. That is, Price, Product, Place and Promotion - obviously you know the main attributes of the product, and the price, but for 'place' you should think about the type of people who are willing to pay over 4x price of competing product - whereas the cheap option may be sold where emphasis is on cost, your product will be suited to places/distributors where the customers will be willing to pay for quality. Promotion needs to concentrate on the unique selling point / differentiator of the product you are selling, so this would be promotion through media (the choice of which depends on… [cont.] Answered by Mistilletto - Sun Oct 4 18:04:23 2009 How do businesses and Marketing agencies work together?
Q. How do Business work together with Marketing agencies to ensure the campaign they're trying to market will be perfect? Asked by Nontie - Wed Mar 12 12:08:01 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. those marketing agencies are also business. I think I know what you are asking, in most cases the marketers will bring a product to the market and merchandise it as they wish. Having said that many companies hold the right o approve any advertisement that brings their product to the fore front. Usually they want to make sure that the product isn't misrepresented to the public. An example of this was shortly after Smokey and the bandit was released some advertisers were trying to sell the Pontiac like the Bandit drove and young folks would buy the car and wanted it to do what they saw it do in the movie and what it was advertised to do on TV. General Motors stopped this very quickly As for the advertising that the business does, it isn't… [cont.] Answered by ffperki - Wed Mar 12 20:06:59 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "marketing" United Marketing Group and Teleformix Make Joint Investment in Call Center
