Hosting !!?
Q. What business of hosting sites is better? 1And1.com or DreamHost.com? What has a system of e-mail? What has transferencia data faster? Finally, the best? Or another which is better than these two? Thank you.

A. I think that Dreamhost is much better. 1and1 has awful customer service. Price vise they're pretty close, although you can use a promo code PLUS with Dreamhost during sign up and get the $50 discount +2 Free domain names. It's a much better deal than similar 1and1 plans.

How would you feel about hosting a foreign exchange student in your home?
Q. I am directing this question not only at Americans but at all nationalities who might read the question and have thoughts about the subject. This year my family is hosting two students, one from Germany and one from Hong Kong, both girls. In the past we have hosted two boys from Germany, one boy from Korea, and one girl each from Germany and Hong Kong. This is our third full year to host, and we also hosted for a partial year. Our son was a foreign exchange student in Germany for a year. We have had exceptional kids to work with. The experiences have been incredible and we are connected to all of our past and present kids. Would you consider hosting a child from a foreign land? I'm not recruiting, although my wife is coordinating… [cont.]

A. I'm on my 13th! Our first just as an arrival family. I have four Danes, three Germans, two Swedes, two Swiss, one Finn and one Brasilian! As you can tell, we love it. We've also had exceptional students to work with as well ... and we wouldn't trade any of them! To top it all off, we spent our 25th anniversary on a three-week tour of Europe visiting many of them! Hosting not only gives you a new son or daughter, but it gives you a whole new family as well! The one thing that concerns me about your question however, is that it ALMOST seems like a recruitment of host families. I'm sure you really didn't mean it that way, but I certainly would NOT be looking for families for students on the Internet! Congratulations on your international… [cont.]

What is the most important question you have about hosting a high school foreign exchange student?
Q. I am very familiar with hosting agencies and ask that agencies or any area coordinator, area representative, or local coordinator will not reply to this question. I am asking this question from the point of view of a potential host family, host parent, host sister, or host brother with no hosting experience. I would like to open this to former host families.

A. The most important question I usually want to know of the students we host is "Why are you doing the exchange?" Other important questions (in no particular order): - What (specific or general terms) do you expect of us, as host parents? For example, do you expect that we will take trips to (insert names of tourist spots near to where we live) at least once a month while you are here? Do you expect that we will be strict? Do you expect us to have the same level of trust in you that your parents have? Do you expect us to help you with your homework for one hour every night? Etc. - What personal adjustments do you expect to make and how can we help to make those happen? - What's your favorite kind of food? What foods do you absolutely… [cont.]

A. All websites today currently run on either a Windows web server or a Linux-based server. The vast majority of websites run on a Linux-based platform as Linux has a strong reputation for security and web server performance. With standard (static) HTML-based websites, the web hosting platform doesn't make much difference. When it does make a difference, however, is when the website uses a dynamic scripting technology such as ASP (A Microsoft based technology), or PHP / PERL (Linux based technologies). A Windows-based hosting solution will run a Microsoft Windows server with IIS (Internet Information Server), and is necessary to run an ASP / ASP.NET scripted website. How does hosting the Olympics benefit the host country?
Q. Aside from economics, and worldwide attention/recognition - how else does the host country of the Olympics benefit from hosting the games? Please include two or more ideas that would be worth researching as part of a paper. Also, what counter claims can I make for economics and worldwide recognition?
Asked by raceface - Tue Nov 11 22:30:11 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Cities who host the Olympic Games must commit to significant investments in sports venues and other infrastructure. It is commonly assumed that the scale of such and event and the scale of the preparation for it will create large and lasting economic benefits to the host city. Economic impact studies confirm these expectations by forecasting economic benefits in the billions of dollars. Unfortunately these studies are filled with misapplications of economic theory that virtually guarantee their projections will be large. Ex-post studies have consistently found no evidence of positive economic impacts from mega-sporting events even remotely approaching the estimates in economic impact studies

Whats the difference between Ircd and Shell hosting?
Q. I want to start my own Irc server. Whats the different kinds of hosting available, and can anyone recommend a hosting provider?
Asked by XZ3R0 - Sun Jul 26 05:40:01 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Ircd will run an IRC daemon on the server for you. You only get to control it - no other aspects of the server. Shell hosting means that you can log into the server and execute any commands that you like, probably over ssh. That means that you can run an IRC daemon, but also a lot more stuff at once such as a web server. It is also harder to set up and maintain. I recommend or for a shell server. They are both virtual private servers, so that it's as if you have a whole computer to yourself, and you get to be the administrator. There are several virtual servers running on one real machine. I'm afraid I've never used dedicated IRC hosting so can't comment on that.

First thing I'd like to say is, Shared hosting is better and have the first priority in web hosting companies than Dedicated since there will be more complainers if it went down or anything bad happend ;) Shared Hosting~ pros cheap. If by any chance it crashed, you have your other mates (probably 20 other users) who will complain and the server it will up by the web hosting own company in no time. Firewalls, Flash, PHP, MySQL and everything else is already installed free and ready to get used. cons … [cont.]

What is proper etiquette when hosting a dinner party with seated service and multiple courses?
Q. What is proper etiquette when hosting a dinner party with seated service and multiple courses? For example: How do you proceed if a few of the guests are slow eaters? Is it appropriate to make the rest of the dinner guests wait or to clear each course after a specific amount of time and serve the next?
Asked by Captain Commando - Sun Mar 22 11:24:29 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Unless the wait becomes really tiresome (and that becomes clear by the fidgeting of the guests who are waiting for the next course) then each course is served to all guests at the same time. If the conversation at the table is lively, most people will not notice that there are laggers; but should the wait become difficult, simply announce the next course and have it served. The laggers will wither relinquish their plates, or ask that they be left. In that case, honor the guest's request. You'll sometimes find, particularly at a multiple course meal, that some will not eat all they are served. It is not necessarily a signal that the food is unsatisfactory, but may be a sign that portions are very generous.

A. FFmpeg is a complete, cross-platform solution to record, convert and stream audio and video. Some people use it when they're trying to build a niche YouTube-like website. Most shared web hosts do not support FFMPEG modules or flvtools because they are too processor intensive. I believe the planet hosting does support FFmpeg. Read a review about the planet here -
